Natural Gas Conservation
Here are some quick gas bill lowering tips
Stay in tune with the seasons. When it’s cold out, don’t fight it with your thermostat. Wear a sweater and socks when you’re in the house and keep the thermostat a few degrees cooler. Program or adjust your thermostat so your apartment’s gas bill isn’t skyrocketing because you’re heating an empty apartment. Reducing indoor temperature by just a few degrees can cut heating costs by 1–5% per degree over an 8-hour period. Aim for 68°F while awake and 60–62°F while sleeping or away from home.
Watch your gas oven. Run fans clockwise at low speed in winter to push warm air down, reducing furnace cycles.
Close vents in unused rooms. This directs heat to occupied areas, improving efficiency.
Utilize Natural Sunlight. Open curtains and blinds during the day to let sunlight warm your home naturally. Close them at night to add an extra layer of insulation against the cold.
Wash clothes in cold water. This Minimizes hot water demand.
